Violin virtuoso-brothers Ganesh and Kumaresh have been used brilliantly and have delivered excellent performances for their debut. The movie was based on the novel by Anuradha Ramanan. The film won the National Film Award for Best Film on Other Social Issues at the 38th National Film Awards. The movie contains two distinct story lines, each story lines revolves around Ganesh and Kumaresh. This movie depicts difficulties women face(d) in a predominantly male dominated society. How these women when pushed to edge fight their ostracized husbands and set a tone and lead a meaningful life.

Suvarilladha Chiththirangal 1979

The Story revolves around a poor girl living with widowed mother and siblings. Poverty and the family situation gets her mother to prostitute herself for the welfare of the family. Director Bhagyaraj, treats this subject from the perspective of the girl who sees the wrong of her mother; but in the later teases the thought of right and wrong with the viewers considering the situation in which the mother gets into that. Bhagyaraj, himself plays the neighbour who first falls in love with the girl, later to realize that she is already in a relationship with another.
